Instructions:

The ultimate balance of savory and sweet!

Hot Honey Focaccia (9x13 in pan, df/eggless/vegan option)

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast- 1 c lukewarm water (~115 F)
  • 1 tbsp honey (can use agave if vegan)
  • 1/2 c olive oil (split in half)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder (or fresh garlic)
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika (can omit)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp @smilefarms hot sauce (can sub with whatever hot sauce you have on hand)
  • 2 1/2 c flour (1 cup first, and then 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Honey as needed, for topping
  • More hot sauce as needed, for topping
  • Sea salt as needed, for topping

Instructions:

- In a large bowl, combine water, yeast & honey & stir together. Let it sit for 5 minutes.

- Add in all the spices, 1/4 c olive oil, hot sauce and 1 cup of flour. Stir until fully combined, and let it sit another 5 minutes.

- Stir the remaining 1 1/2 c flour & add in the salt. The dough will look a little scraggly at first. Then pour it out onto a floured surface and knead until it comes together and is smooth (10-15 times).

- Transfer it into a large oiled bowl (I just use the same bowl to avoid dishes :)) & cover with a warm, damp towel.

- Let it rise for 1 to 2 hours OR until doubled in size.

- Once doubled, use 2 tbsp oil to grease a 9x 13 in rimmed man.

- Transfer dough onto the sheet and gently press it into the pan. Use your fingers to gently dimple the dough. Top with the rest of the oil & more hot sauce/honey/spices as desired!!

- Let rest for 30 more minutes & preheat the oven to 450 F.

- Bake for 15 -20 minutes or until the top looks golden brown.

- Let the bread cool completely before cutting into it.

- Top with MORE hot sauce & honey AND DEVOUR!
